On any other normal day, I would look something like this..

Ok I lied. This is not a normal day. It’s a heavily edited picture. I do that sometimes when I’m bored. Ok, I lied again. I edit most of my pictures

Anyways,

This is what I really look like #truestory

No makeup, no edits, pimple, eyebags and all. And most people are used to seeing me this way and they can hardly imagine what I’d look like with some makeup on.

So, when I went to my sister’s wedding looking like this..

My mother just couldn’t look at me. She went on and on how I look so much better without the makeup and ridiculous hair. Although I didn’t think I looked that bad, the reaction of those around me..has made me never want to get ‘professional makeup’ done.

My sister was the only one who told me I looked nice because she spent a good amount of money for the makeup and hair.

So yea, sometimes..it’s better to stick to safe paths and avoid looking like an alien.

Yesterday officially marked the end of the endless wedding celebrations of the best friends and the sister. It’s been awhile since I attended a wedding without having to worry about giving a speech or if the bride is okay & all that.

But, I’m so glad everything turned out perfectly fine and my two best friends and sister are now happily married

No more talk about wedding till..nevermind

The inevitable truth of life is that whether you do good or bad, someone will always have something to say about you. Always.

Just when you think you’ve got the perfect dress, someone comes and tells you otherwise. While you admire your brand new hairdo, your best friends think its crap. And so, the cycle continues. Whatever you do, will constantly be questioned and criticized.

This statement holds even more truth now that we’re at the final stages of my sister’s wedding plans. Every family member had something to say about the way we were doing things. But, ultimately, we always let my sister have the last say and let her decide on the way to do things.

And so it is..one week before the wedding and we can only pray that everything goes on smoothly

So today is obviously not my day. Yes, it is the first day of school and I had completely forgotten that the school is under renovation which leaves me no place to park! After 15 minutes of pointless circling around the building, I parked at my friend’s apartment opposite the school..and ignored the disbelieving look from the guard when I told him I’m a visitor.

Anyways, this is supposed to be a happy clappy post. So, here goes. Towards the end of the year, everyone gets nostalgic and you meet up with those near and dear to tell them how much you love them.

For us, we celebrate my sister’s final week as a single woman with lots of drinks and dancing. Our aim that night was to get her drunk and suffice to say, pictures of her puking on the road showed how successful we were. My mum, of course, wasn’t too happy when we had to drag my sister out of the car as she rambled random rubbish.

I also made time for My Favourite Boys as they dished out their usual advice on love, life and relationships.

On New Year’s Day, the family went out for lunch and later, we went through details and even more details for my sister’s wedding.

Who gets to determine when the old ends and the new begins? It’s not on the calendar, it’s not a birthday, it’s not a new year, it’s an event —big or small, something that changes us, ideally it gives us hope, a new way of living and looking at the world, letting go of old habits, old memories. What’s important is that we never stop believing we can have a new beginning, but it’s also important to remember amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding on to.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but for me, by far, this has been an eventful Christmas. I mean, I knew it from the moment Michael Buble came out with his Christmas album that this year is going to be special #truestory . This is why, I shall put all distractions aside, and concentrate on finishing this blog post with pictures and tell the four of you reading this post what a wonderful Christmas I had.

As cliche as it may sound, what’s Christmas without em’ awesome company around eh? Good friends, good food and loads of lame jokes to fill every awkward silence..nothing can replace that

It sure does feel good to greet the new year with your old friends..with the calm reassurance that you’ve always got each other to rely on. I don’t know much, but for what it’s worth..I know that this friendship is for keeps.

While cherishing old friends, it has been a season of being optimistic and celebrating new friendships

And of course, the best part of Christmas..the food and the presents..

Sometimes it comes in the form of your best friend making awesome Christmas dinner complete with stars on top of the chocolate cake, poached pear and all that dazzle

And the brother who spent 30 minutes buying RM30 worth of makeup for his sister who hardly uses makeup

And for these lovelies..befitting for the occasion

And for charm bracelets, chains and delicious wine and everything else that makes Christmas so wonderful

And as we make a toast with homemade ginger beer in our less-than-attractive milo mugs..we know, that we’ll be ready for whatever 2012 has in store for us.

So, officially, here’s a huge huge huge thank you to each and everyone who made this Christmas special for me. I’ll spare you the details of what went down but suffice to say..this Christmas will be remembered in years and years to come

Change is always scary but I’ll take it all in stride and know that God has bigger plans for me

And sometimes..sometimes..all we need is love
